I don't know if there are any African actors in this, but how is this different than white people profiting from African American culture? I wonder how 1.2 billion Africans are going to feel about their culture and history being hijacked for profit by black Hollywood? Or do they get a pass because if you go back far enough its the same ancestry?
IRRELEVANT...AMERICAN HOLLYWOOD HAS AND ALWAYS WILL DEPICT OTHER COUNTRIES IN THEIR FILMS...ACTORS BEING PRIMARILY AMERICAN OBVIOUSLY AS THEY ARE AMERICAN FILMS.
Did you know each title page here has a link to IMDB where you can look this stuff up? Some of the leading actors are American or British. Sheila Atim is Ugandan, Thuso Mbedu and Makgotso M are South African, Jimmy Odukoya is Nigerian.
The Dahomey region is now part of the Republic of Benin. Africa is very diverse. I doubt that people in, for example, Somalia or Chad care at all about how the USA entertainment industry depicts the people of a kingdom that no longer exists.
If you need an opinion from the people most likely to be concerned about how their ancestors are depicted, then contact these guys. https://beninembassy.us/contact-us/
I'm not invested in this. I was just curious where the IMDB links are. Apparently they don't show up on the mobile site, but when I switch to desktop mode they appear. Thanks for the info, I never knew that.
