Just go watch "It's a Wonderful Life" again, or some other film that's on the Trump/Jesus approved list. The last thing you want to do is look for meaning in something that you don't immediately understand; the world might just crumble.
Well, all things you enumerated sound wildly interesting, but aside from the cool things you listed, the movie is a pretentious borefest. Just yesterday I stumbled upon Time Stood Still (1959) by Ermanno Olmi which, I'm ready to bet, heavily inspired The Lighthouse. Basically the same movie, without the horror, the weird stuff and the farting. Amazing how an old barebone minimalist movie could be more interesting than a modern commercial one. Talk about mastership.
Yes, it is a minimalist ambient movie, but with very similar setting and dynamic between the characters. I haven't seen Tree of Wooden Clogs, but recently watched "Il Posto" and liked it.
I wouldn’t say it sucked but I did find it rather impenetrable and I’ll admit I didn’t understand a lot of what was going on. Still quite a fascinating watch though and the imagery and performances were something to behold.
I doubt I’ll ever watch it again but I’m glad I saw it.
