This week's The Masked Singer elimination is a pure and simple travesty

"Imagine a singing competition where Kelly Osbourne is a single rung below Patti LaBelle in its rankings," says Rich Juzwiak, adding: "Patti LaBelle, whose voice has been a gift to popular music for some six decades, was eliminated from The Masked Singer on Wednesday, making her the seventh runner up on this show. That means, per the competition, there are eight singers on the show who deserve to be there more than Patti LaBelle. These people likely...include an athlete, a comic actor, and the Destiny’s Child alum you’d least like to hear from. Meanwhile, I’m struggling to think of eight singers who deserve to be on this planet more than Patti LaBelle."

I cannot disagree. I love the show, but sometimes the choices the audience make are bizarre to me. See last year wear T-Pain beat Donny Osmond and Gladys Knight.

reply

Yes, Monster T-pain killed it though. He was my favorite and then the Peacock.

reply

I disagree. I think T-pain is talented. But compared to Gladys and Donnie; no.

reply

Is that before or after you knew who they were? The showmanship definitely went to Peacock and while I loved his voice I still liked Monster better. Gladis Knight is a living legend just like Patti Labelle... I still liked Monster better, I was shocked it was someone who I had never really heard of before. I had to google him and realized that I have heard his music before. His voice just really moved me.

reply

Before.

reply

Maybe just a different taste in music maybe? I knew that was Gladis the moment Robin mentioned her name. I NEVER would have guessed Donny even though I grew up watching Donnie and Marie. I never knew he had swag like that

reply

Peacock and Bee were two of our favorites from the beginning. We thought they were easily the best.

It took some time to figure out lion, but peacock was pretty clear earliy on. The rainbows and long wig pegged him to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; which meant Donnie Osmond. (Yeah, other people played Joseph, but Donnie is the one most associated with the traveling show and the DVD release.)

reply

AGE DOES PLAY A ROLE...THESE PEOPLE INTHEIR PRIME WOULD BE A BETTER ARGUEMENT.

reply

I think so, but I am old enough to know them all.

reply

I mean... Yeah it does seem shocking once they are revealed, and the gravity of who they are comes in to play. But obviously this competition has nothing to do with that. It's based on those performances in those moments and the right choice was made. Her voice was weak and not worthy of furthering her in the competition. As crazy as it sounds, it's as simple as that.
