English actors

Finding it difficult to fully immerse myself in this with English actors. Feels like a very british afternoon drama. I think it would have been so much better in the native language. Hopefully I can get over this and enjoy it, if 'enjoy' is the right word for this....

reply

Well then the Russians would have to make it, not HBO.

I *am* Russian and I see no problem with this.

reply

I got into it right away, in fact I was expecting subtitles, very glad it wasn’t. Still atmospheric and very immersive.

reply

It was a bit jarring at first, as was the fact that some of the actors sounded completely British, and others took the trouble to have slight accents, like a foreigner that speaks completely fluent English.

But I got over it pretty quickly, when the shit hit the fan.

reply

I’d rather have no one do fake Russian accents. Ever hear John Malkovich on Billions? He sounds like a bad SNL sketch from the 70s.

reply

No obvious fake or heavy accents, bug yeah. Some don't sound completely British, and some do.

At least nobody sound American! Or Australian.

reply

He is doing it poorly on purpose. It is a variant of his Teddy KGB character from Rounders.

reply

It's the only thing I dislike about it so far

reply

I don't need it in the native language, but some Russian accents would be nice. I also noticed the British accents immediately and was just kind of like WTF?

reply

That is gay... I am gonna wait to watch this one after it hits the pirate bay after hearing that

reply

Yeah yeah. Everyone here is real impressed with how sophisticated you are.

reply

Sheesh y’all. Let me guess. You’d only want to see an all Latin version Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar?
