How come Endgame didnt wow you ? In fact , you criticized endgame , the most profitable movie of 2019 is end game , WB split the profits 3 ways , not as profitable as you thibk for wb, wow just wow
shareEndgame made 8 times it's budget. When joker reaches $1B, it will have made 18 times it's budget which is more than double of EG's profitability. "Wow" is putting it mildly.
shareEnd game made 2 billion profit , joker 900 million profit , wow indeed
share"Endgame made 2 billion profit."
LOL. You sure about that, furiousstyles? 2 billion?
Yep , 2.8 million takings , 350 production costs , 150 marketing, more profit than joker , nothing new here queen , marvels been doimg it for years
shareIf the theaters didn't get a cut from the tickets then I guess you're right.
shareSo then joker isnt as wow as you say hence my post and add to the fact that profits are split , well well , pisses on your fire doesnt it
share[deleted]
@furiousstyles,
It is more about the ratio profitability and not the overall profit; at least it is to me.
Without adding marketing and other miscellaneous expenses to the main budget here is a breakdown of the budget to profit "ratio".
EG (budget=$350m, profit=$2.8B) = 1:8 budget:profit ratio
Joker (budget=$55m, profit=$1B) = 1:18 budget:profit ratio
So in a nutshell, Joker will have made more than double the profit ratio than that of EG.
Those profits are shared between 3 companies, disney got more money from end game than wb etc.
shareRegardless of the profit shares, or who gets how much from the profits or how the profits are distributed "after the fact"; this is simply about the budget to profit ratio which Joker made more than double of EG.
End game made more profit , thats all that matters, ratio spatio, its money in the coffers that matters
shareNo, it made more money but it was "much less profitable" in budget-to-profit than Joker or Home Alone(1990) which had a 1:26 profit margin.
Both of these films along with many others were much more "profitable" than Endgame was by a long shot.
You are looking at the overall profit without considering the "profit margin".
You are looking at the overall profit without considering the "profit margin".You're not looking at Profit Margin either.
Return On Investment (ROI) measures the gain or loss generated on an investment relative to the amount of money invested. ROI is usually expressed as a percentage and is typically used for personal financial decisions, to compare a company's profitability or to compare the efficiency of different investments.Overall Profitability is based on revenues in excess of expenses. share
The return on investment formula is:
ROI = (Net Profit / Cost of Investment) x 100
How It Works
The ROI calculation is flexible and can be manipulated for different uses. A company may use the calculation to compare the ROI on different potential investments, while an investor could use it to calculate a return on a stock.
For example, an investor buys $1,000 worth of stocks and sells the shares two years later for $1,200. The net profit from the investment would be $200 and the ROI would be calculated as follows:
ROI = (200 / 1,000) x 100 = 20%
The ROI in the example above would be 20%. The calculation can be altered by deducting taxes and fees to get a more accurate picture of the total ROI.
The same calculation can be used to calculate an investment made by a company. However, the calculation is more complex because there are more inputs. For example, to figure out the net profit of an investment, a company would need to track exactly how much cash went into the project and the time spent by employees working on it.
Why It Matters
ROI is one of the most used profitability ratios because of its flexibility. That being said, one of the downsides of the ROI calculation is that it can be manipulated, so results may vary between users. When using ROI to compare investments, it's important to use the same inputs to get an accurate comparison.
Also, it's important to note that the basic ROI calculation does not take time into consideration. Obviously, it's more desirable to get a +15% return over one year than it is over two years.
Thanks for the accounting lesson which was not necessary as anyone with basic math knowledge understands that making a billion dollars on a $55-million expense budget was 10-times more profitable then the "ROI" of $2.8-billion on a $350-million expense budget, so yes I'am looking at the profit margin.
Well, hello Mr.Fancy pants!
except that at the end of the day disney still made more physical cash than wb.. if i sell something i bought for $1 for $100 that`s a ratio of 1:100 profit but that doesn`t mean i made more money than disney because i made more profit
shareYes, Disney made more "overall" than WB and all other companies, however, Joker was much more profitable than AE.
Joker is now considered "the most profitable comic book movie".
If you spent $1 and sold it for $100, while I spent $500 and sold it for $4000, I made much more total "overall" than you, however, you were much more profitable than me since your profit margin factor was 1:100 while mine was only 1:8.
Universal and irrefutable basic arithmetic since the dawn of humanity.
LOL! talk about the ultimate prawnage, marvel fans have salty tears...
shareHighest grossing movie of 2019 is......a marvel movie. Boom
shareSo your shtick is to rag on people who like things that are popular? Is that the Trumptard way?
shareYou have no shtick, you fall inline with what ever is popular at the moment.
Like making fun of people that support America.
Lmao right, like you care about the constitution. You're here to put yourself above others by hating on them and engaging in stupid memes in your downtime.
shareI think you are just jealous a movie like The Joker made so much money on such a small budget.
The 2.5 multiplier indicates that this movie actually made more than the Endgame.
Why the need to type the idiot "lol"???
shareInfinity War was 500mil in the black after everything -- after grossing 2bil ww on a 316mil budget plus P&A. Joker will match if not surpass that. But Endgame is 2BILLION?!?! in the black -- after grossing 2.8bil ww on a 356mil budget plus P&A??
How do you come with this "profit"?
End game profit on 2.8 billion , 60% of takings 1.68 billion, minus production budget , 356 million, minus marketing 150 million , total profit 1.1 billion, so my point to queen is why so wow of joker yet so critical and negative of end game when it was released ?
shareYou can criticize Queen all you want, but you just lopped off 1 billion dollars of "profit" from your original quote. And somehow Endgame made more than twice as much "profit" as Infinity War despite costing more to produce and not making twice as much at the box office??
https://deadline.com/2019/10/joker-profit-global-box-office-avengers-1202767490/
https://deadline.com/2019/04/avengers-infinity-war-profit-box-office-2018-1202591380/
You don't get 60% from China -- more like 25-27%. And Endgame grossed over 610mil in China alone. You're doing what Queen does except in the other direction. He played it down while you're inflating it.
While you are probably right that Endgame didn't quite net a billion from its theatrical run, Endgame's ancillary sales will probably make up for it. Then on top of it is the merchandising which could net a billion by itself and dwarfs whatever Joker merch could make. And then there's the Disney streaming service and Disney theme parks that will generate subscriptions and ticket sales based on Endgame's appeal.
That is why Disney spends so much money on their production and advertising budgets. They are playing an entirely different ball game.
The deadline link for Infinity War says that it reached half a billion in profit after ancillary sales. I don't think Endgame will double that. And I have no idea about the other stuff (like merch); I'm just challenging these quicky sketches that go from 2bil in profit to 1bil in profit (from its theatrical run) in an eye blink when that clearly isn't the case. And I have no horse in these silly studio wars either. Both sides throw around inflated or deflated numbers from algorithms that change to make their flimsy case.

Thank you!
Yup...this is hitting a billion...That sure sounds like a prediction to most rational people?

Wow. Just wow.

Yes...THIS is a prediction.
share$64m to go. Depends on how fast screens are dropped. 5 wide releases on Friday, 3 more the next.
share$1 Billion is going to happen.
Short of buying up their own tickets (no I am not saying that EVER happens and I am just needling the Disney detractors) WB will do anything possible to push this over the $1 Billion threshold.
Minions
Despicable Me 3
Two rare movies with production budgets under $100 Million and grosses over $1 Billion.
And those two awful movies had China.
share[–] QueenFanUSA (2468) 13 hours agoWhat does your subjective critique have to do with the objective result of the Category of: Movies with less than a $100 Million dollar production budget grossing over $1 Billion?
And those two awful movies had China.
Because I think they are crap and felt like letting my opinion be known?

shareInternational is really on fire. I could see it getting 64 million more overseas ALONE when all is said and done.
shareOne billion is now guaranteed. Marvel tards and billbrown are running for the hills.
shareWell...billbrown says he loves the film and is happy for it's success but that his "goal is to HAUNT me" on this board.
He's doing a good job as he's become a GHOST on this board as of late. He made an absolute idiot of himself during the Joker's 2nd weekend on here and I still have many unanswered questions for him.
Hell...I still haven't got any closure on his LIE that there are "confirmed reports" of a "special deal" Disney got for The Lion King where they get to keep 67% of domestic ticket earnings and 55% of international.
Running for the hills, indeed.
He resurfaced a few days ago. Never answered the convention question but he's not dead.
shareThank you, @dmac!
What a shocker! He gave an open invitation to anyone but me to give the details(name and date) of his "5 1/2 day trip to an out of town comic convention" and whaddaya know...he doesn't respond to you.
Well...if he's resurfaced, I guess his "goal" to try to "haunt" me has been abandoned.
Why would marvel fans be running fir the hills ? Pretty sure the last 2 movies released by marvel made 3.6 billion at the box office
shareWonderful movie... wonderful in the wow, wtf sense....
Gets people coming back, thinking...
Might actually be in line for best picture, beyond best actor, give away to Phoenix
Whew! I was so worried.
Box Office is always the main concern. If I was getting a cut, I would care too.
