Was bored after 20mins
Did it get any better?
shareI fell asleep and had to stop right about midway. I had a hunch that right then it would pick up, and I was right. I resumed the next day and just about right in the middle, it kicks into gear. And I have to say it was worth slugging through the beginning.
shareI just finished watching it and I found it excruciating. Way too long and pretentious.
shareSo you found it pretty boring then?
shareI didn't like it at all. It took a simple narrative and made it as long, colorful, and surreal as possible. I wouldn't recommend to even fans of revenge movies, which is why I was excited to see it. I was hoping that it would get better once the revenge angle played into things, but no such luck.
I chalk it up to not really caring much for art house films. I also didn't like movies like The Eyes of My Mother, Horsehead, Evolution, or A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, to name a few. If you like any of those, you might like this one. If not though, stay clear.
Some of the monsters in this were weird in a rather cool way, though. That's about the only positive I can give it.
They could have cut the movie down about 20 minutes. I'm all for these "mood" movies, but I found the visuals bothersome.
shareIf you were bored after 20 minutes, I doubt you'd find the film "any better" as it went along.
You didn't like it. End of story.
That’s nonsense. The second half is pretty much a different movie. He was bored during the slow first half, what makes you think he would be bored during the fast-paced second half?
Also you can’t judge a movie or decide whether it’s good or not based on only 20 minutes. I mean I didn’t care much for the first 20 minutes of the movie myself, but I still ended up loving the movie.
The first half of "Mandy" goes for an hour. So you're asking someone who was bored for the first 20 minutes to sit through another 40 minutes of the same stuff...
What's the last film you liked and would recommend to people that you personally hated the first 20 minutes of? LOL
Stop arguing for the sake of arguing.
20 minutes is nothing. There are plenty of movies I didn’t like the first 20 or even 30 minutes of that I ended up really liking. Watching 20 minutes of a movie is nowhere near enough to know if you’ll like the movie or not. Most movies don’t get going until about 30 minutes in. All I’m trying to say here is if you give up on movies after only 20 minutes then you’re going to miss a lot of great movies.
