Hanks cried off camera to help co-star prepare for emotional scene

I cry every time I see Hanks on screen, and hope he would leave the screen so the tears can stop. :-)
shareThe older I get the more I get into movies, there was a scene in the movie where I almost cried, but at the end of the movie, second to last scene, I was a wreck. Maybe its because I have kids of my own and I see movies with kids differently, I don't know, but I loved this movie!
shareBeing the actor he is, he is very generous with his costars. In "The Green Mile", during one of the conversations he has with Michael Clark Duncan's character John Coffey, he, according to Frank Darabont, the film's director, gave an Oscar worthy performance OFF CAMERA to help Duncan get to the point he had to get to in the course of the dialogue.
Say what you will, I think Hanks has earned his Oscars through great acting (and helping his scene partners get their best performance).
