anyone else not going to watch it?
like ever (even when it arrives on normal tv in a year)
shareIs there a reason why you are never going to watch it?
shareJust not into foreign language films. Also I read the wiki and it seemed weird
shareOkay.
I haven't seen it yet but I want to. I've really liked all of the other movies I've seen written and directed by Bong Joon-Ho so I'm sure I will enjoy this. But I get it. My partner won't watch anything fully subtitled either.
I have Snowpiercer saved to watch so definitely be watching that at some point (a while back I was trying to get hold of the DVD but it wasn't available for some reason but it showed in Film4 so have it saved now)
shareIt's a great film. Anyone who refuses to watch it is missing out. The film blends different genres (comedy, drama, thriller) in a smart, satisfying, and original way. The screenplay is fantastic and the performances are great. Parasite is a genuinely entertaining, well made film that most people would enjoy.
shareYou live up to your name, bozo. Congrats.
shareTrue..but.. all I've read literally everywhere are people singing its praises or saying they got to watch it .. so I'm offering an alternate view to the 99.9% - that of complete non interest
shareYes, the herd mentality can work to make movies successful or otherwise.
I won't be watching it, because it simply doesn't grab my interest. There are any number of movies that can boast of the reported qualities of this film, but it lacks the one feature that would interest me, namely, relevance to my sensibilities. That may sound a bit pompous, but it's the criteria I think most of use use when choosing which films to watch.
I read a synopsis of it and it sounds kind of like a silly allegory.
It doesn't sound like a real story with a plot.
In fact it is an allegory about social economic classes. I like that kind of thing if in was wrapped in a real story.
Yes, I agree that it does sound a bit frivolous.
Allegories about social structures veer dangerously close to the "mind-numbingly boring", for me. It's another reason I won't be watching it.
Plus, either I'm going to agree or disagree once I get the idea, so the movie is over once I get it. There is no plot so it's about getting it or not.
BORING!
Yes. I agree, that's my own yardstick for "boring", as well.
shareRelax people, the movie is entertaining as hell. Edge of your seat entertainment, and I'm not joking.
share"Edge of your seat", as in "almost falling off your chair because you went to sleep with boredom"? :)
shareI mean it in the best sense. It's a thrilling film.
People think it's going to be boring because it's from South-Korea, when they don't realize that South-Korea makes movies very similar to Hollywood. No other country has been as successful as this country in emulating the entertainment factor of Hollywood, and the way Hollywood tells stories (which they do better than anyone else).
The only subtitled foreign film I've watched all the way through was "Downfall". And that was only because I just had to see Hitler shoot himself. :)
Subtitled films are a "boredom challenge" to me, I admit.
THATS CALLED IGNORANCE.
shareI always wait for home releases, this means the hype is usually passed at that point and if its still there its because the movie was worth it. Saw it tonight and i liked it. But you do you, i can respect a person who knows his limits.
shareI will never watch this cause the poster reminds me of the Human Centipede movie.
sharenot gonna watch some shit international movie
shareNever! Bong Joon Ho is a fucking Marxist. He should know better considering how the N and S Korea turned out.
Okja and Snowpiercer are overrated anti-capitalist propaganda. It's bad enough that Comrade Sanders is leading the national poll by 8 percent.
You smell like a Trump supporter
shareYeah, other uncultured swine like you.
