This had better be better than Dunkirk
Christopher Nolan is my all time favorite director but man did he drop the ball with Dunkirk. Hopefully he can bounce back with Tenet, having an actual plot would be a good place to start.

shareI also loved Dunkirk, but know many people had an issue with the different timeframes. Really, it was not difficult to follow once you knew what was happening...there were even captions on screen when it switched timeframes to help.
But the problem is the benchmark for Dunkirk movies is the 1950s version with John Mills, and most people seemed to expect a similar type of movie, with plenty of heroism and stiff upper lip etc.
But honestly...Nolan is clearly not that kind of director. He has dabbled with different timeframes in his movies before...so why would people expect a conventional movie from him?
I actually didn't have a problem with the different time frames, I actually found it kind of fun to match them up to each other when one time frame would catch up to another one.
My problem is the entire film is nothing but action sequences, it was all spectacle yet no substance. One thing that makes Nolan's films so great is they have really strong characters and Dunkirk just didn't have that at all, when one of your top billed actors is credited as "shivering soldier" you know you have problems. Again Dunkirk is very well done in terms of visual and sound effects but there is absolutely nothing under the surface and that was a huge disappointment considering Nolan had just come off of what I think are his best two movies: The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar.
Interstellar is one of his best movies? That's weird to read. I think it is one of his worst. It's certainly below The Prestige, Inception, TDK, Batman Begins and Memento.
shareInterstellar to me is his second best, (TDKR is his best). Interstellar was almost the perfect movie. I don't know why but Nolan has put out two of his weakest films recently with Dunkirk and Tenet, my problem with both of them are the under developed characters which is a problem that none of his previous films had. He seems to be going more for the spectacle than the story which is odd because he's such a great filmmaker. Also he needs to stop casting Kenneth Branagh, I have never liked him.
