Hollywood replace redheads with diversity hire

here we go again , no justice for gingers

Disappointing, esp cause she's such an iconic redhead.

But if they're tying this in with The Batman, Barbara Gordon has to be black lol.

Betty Kane was blonde: https://comicyears.com/comics/the-history-of-batgirl/
Yvonne Craig had dark hair as Barbara Gorden but red hair as Batgirl!

reply

Jane Levy, who wanted to play her, naturally has blonde hair but is known for being a redhead.

Oh stop it. In this day and age don't tell me you didn't expect it. I was even surprised when they cast Pattinson and not a black dude for The Batman !

reply

I can reliably pre-not-care about most all comic book movies/tv now. They are a vehicle for something else now.

This is how I feel. If you told me ten years ago I wouldn’t care about a Batgirl movie or new Star Trek, I’d be skeptical. If storytelling was paramount I would watch and grumble, but since they don’t even concern themselves with story and instead focus on morality (morality plays without the play!), it’s easy to say nah.

There's also supposed to be some transtrender in the thing, too.

Is this a movie or television series? It looks super cheap, and the fact they race-swapped Batgirl to be black is just all kinds of eye-roll worthy. Though if she had stayed white they probably would have turned her into a man-hating lesbo to make the character more "diverse". I honestly don't know which one is worse.

This truly is the saddest timeline.

reply

It’s laughable. Batwoman and Batgirl are black. And Batwoman was a train wreck.

reply

oh vey how dare u question hollywood goyum!!!

reply

OP, I noticed this too. Gingers are considered fair game to race swap. If representation truly mattered that wouldn’t be the case.
