Just enjoy this for what it is, a 90-minute animated movie for kids. I personally loved it. Tons of great references to all of our favorite games, so there's plenty for the grown-ups to enjoy too. People are acting like this is such a disappointment. Why? If you're expecting a great piece of cinema, of course you're going to be disappointed. The people who are saying that this is so bad that it actually redeems the '93 live-action are ridiculous.
shareAgreed, the film had a boatload of energy and charm as well as colourful animation and some well-crafted action sequences. Were people expecting this to be the next Finding Nemo or something?
shareAgreed 100%. My boys and I really enjoyed it. For a couple of hours, it kept us entertained. It was nice to be in a movie theater again!
shareYou’re making it sound like it’s a bad story and it’s not lol but I get what you are saying though. It’s a heart warming, straight forward story. For a non gamer, it will come off as a pretty decent film. For a gamer, it wonderful.

shareFrom what I've seen, hearing people that claim the 1993 movie is better are being ridiculous. But I have seem some reviews call the movie kind of generic or by-the-numbers on a storytelling level. Never mind the culture war garbage about 'to woke or not to woke' for a second. If people expected more from that angle as far as the narrative or character development is concerned, it's their right to have that opinion.
