His father was a sadistic bastard, and raped him. And his mother was a drunken fool who disinherited him. No wonder the poor bastard was an addict.

It's excellent. Can hardly wait to see the final episode. BTW, Cumberbatch is one of my favorite actors now. I also enjoyed him immensely in Sherlock.

He could've become a sober sadistic bastard, a family man, an alcoholic but not an addict etc. That also would be no wonder.
