I was happy when Raven died, esp after that cringe forced feminazi comment...

What an annoying character and terrible acting by JLaw. Then there was this cringe worthy line:

"And by the way, the women are always saving the men around here. You might want to think about changing the name to X-Women."

smh

I was also disappointed to see Raven become the bossy team leader and annoying feminist. I wasn't happy about her dying since she is such a cool character. I hope they didn't kill her off since JLaw wanted out. JLaw could easily be replaced by another actress who would take on another human form.

reply

They killed her off specifically because Jennifer Lawrence wanted out. She took the role with the requirement that they couldn't bring her back.

reply

Yeah, she had her big Charlton Heston moment and told Fox to kill her off.

reply

The weird thing is, she referred to a mission in which two men saved the majority of the astronauts. One girl saved one guy and then was saved by dudes. The line didn’t make much sense.

reply

Exactly! That was the worst - and most obvious - thing about it. Quicksilver got most of them out, then Nightcrawler was in with the assist.

It's such a shame because the film didn't really need stupid, forced comments like that in it. I think there was another when the alien "woman" says something like "you're always being held back by men telling you you can't do things".

It just takes you out of the movie.

reply

To be fair, the alien woman was just saying whatever she felt would manipulate Jean the most

reply

Even going back to the other movies, which we can assume is their history, it was usually men saving the day.

reply

Yeah, Jean saved everyone from Apocalypse in the previous movie but I'm not sure of any other significant saves from the female members. It should also be mentioned that Mystique's actions created the Sentinels which killed everyone in the future and that had to be undone.

reply

Yeah, it was a stupid line.
