Not the best idea to have to poster evoking memories of the last film that it wanted to distance itself from! (its even more ironic that the similar poster in question is for the domestic market - where TG massively underperformed! )
I just noticed it too since both films are trending in the current topic feed. That was a curious decision to be sure.

I just think nobody was interested. I've seen every film over and over again but I didn't even know about the release until 3 or 4 weeks prior to the opening.
Paramount did a bad job marketing the film.
I have not seen it yet and now that's it's nowhere near my local cinema as of Friday...I'll have to wait for VOD or Redbox.
looking at the trending film posters - it looks somewhat similar to blade runner as well.

shareThey marketed it the same way as the previous movie too: claimed its the "real Terminator 3" and the other sequels simply don't count, that it had James Cameron's PERSONAL seal of approval and fits his vision of the franchise, touted Arnold prominently as an aged T-800 even though he only has a minor supporting role in the film, etc. etc.
Fool me, once. Shame on you. Fool me twice...
funny that even most of the films surrounding it are the same as 2015 too - Avengers, Star Wars, F&F, Tarantino... making it seem even more like TG 2.0
