Honestly looks terrible - CGI airplanes had that Genisys look of yawn to me. :(

Practical FX please, fanciful Terminator FX and settings have been done to death. They couldn't resist showig unconvincing CGI visuals within 1minute. Cast of thousands of dames makes this worse. :( Seriously I learned never to doubt James Cameron, but the duds - Alita, now this I fear for 4 Avatar movies no one asked for.

The CGI was very bad, looked like they were done in after effects. And they could not come up with a better villain design? He's wearing khakis and a plaid shirt, it looks like what he wore to the set one day.

reply

I actually love that Terminator looks like some regular jackass you'd never even look twice at. That's exactly what a Terminator would look like.

reply

Well then make the terminator look like Matilda. I understand the argument but this film isn't functioning on reality based logic, it also has to consider a visually unique and interesting presentation. A villain that looks like a dope throughout the majority of a film is a bad idea. Film is a visual medium, make the bad guy look menacing or interesting.

reply

Alita was not half bad, actually. I'm hoping for a sequel from the same director. The trailer for this film... was possibly even worse than any sequel post t-2.

reply

Agreed on both Alita AND this trailer.

Alita was surprisingly good, and this trailer looks fucking awful. I really hope the trailer is not an indication of the actual quality of the movie.

James Cameron was always reliable until he made Avatar, but now his judgment must be questioned. I was hoping that him returning as producer would be a great thing for this film, but the trailer has got me doubting.

"Until he made Avatar"..only the highest grossing movie of all time..

What standards you set!

reply

Box office success is not always an indicator of quality. The Transformers films have been massive box office successes.

Even just looking at Cameron's work, Avatar is a much bigger financial success than Terminator 2. But will you really argue that Avatar is the superior film?

reply

I think Avatar is the superior film, although I've watched T2 about a hundred times. But taste is subjective! That's why box office is such an easy means to compare.

reply

For some reason, the plane reminded me of Michael Bay... Was this accidental, nonsensical?

reply

Alita wasn't really a dud. It was actually a pretty good film that ended up performing above financial expectations.
