It really does. I can honestly say this is one show I actually look forward to every week.
I liked it from the start of the "Pilot" episode. The cast is great (kudos to whomever hired Laurie Metcalf's daughter), the jokes are actually fresher than "The Big Bang Theory", it can be adorable from time to time, and it does have a bit of 1980s nostalgic feeling attached to it.
Annie Potts was a wonderful idea to play Sheldon's grandmother. The actress from the episode of "The Meemaw Materialization" (Season 9, Episode 14) didn't seem like the Meemaw I had pictured at the time. Maybe it had something to do with June Squibb playing a bitter old woman in a few of her other previous roles.
I didn't think Lance Barber (the father) was going to pull it off since he played a deadbeat druggie dad in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", but he did. He is such a versatile actor.
I'm glad Jim Parsons accepted the role as the older Sheldon narrator. CBS and Lorre probably would have went with the alternative of having Laurie Metcalf voice older Mary if they couldn't get him. Glad that worked out.
I can see why it was renewed. I have a good feeling "Young Sheldon" will be around for a long time, at least until Iain Armitage grows up.
