I feel Halle Berry's Character was A MASSIVE Creative Failure...

first let me say, I'm in no way talking her in the role...I thought she did a great Job, I thought The Action sequence she was in was fantastic and I thought The way they used the dog was Excellent....

The Problem is she was an exact copy of John Wick...

IMO The thing That Makes these movies great and Makes John Wick A Truly ICONIC character is We believe He is better than every one else, We believe he can do things others cant...as They say in The movie "John Wick is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer FUCKING will"

Well They just showed in this movie that Halle Berry's Character Is pretty much exactly like John Wick...Literally Took out Dozens of Men With The same exact Fighting Style and Skills.

I just couldnt enjoy that scene at all because I couldnt get past the realization that they Just Hurt the John Wick character by showing in Halle Berry's Character that John Wick isnt as Special as we thought....

The Biggest Problem and Creative Failure is they gave her the EXACT same Skills...

she uses the exact same Judo as her hard base and CRIMINALLY they chose to have her use the same exact GUN FU...constantly going and finishing with Head Shots which as Become ICONIC and A Signature for John Wick...

Halle Berry's Character could have worked really well(at least or me) had they not made her an exact copy of John Wick, Had They Made her Fighting Style different and Had they not designed the exact same GUN FU type Action sequence for her...

Suddenly John Wick just doesnt seem as Special watching a 110 LB Women do exactly what he does.

John Wick is my All time Favorite Action Movie.

John Wick 2 was Amazing

I really Liked John Wick 3, So Incredibly happy it did so well at the box office, John Wick Is Officially An A LIST franchise, not only are we going to get More John Wick Films, but I have no doubt Loinsgate will now start branching out and Making John Wick into a Universe and having Spinoffs ...

John Wick Is probably one of My favorite characters in Movie history...I just feel they Drastically hurt his Mystique and Pure level of AMAZINGNESS by literally making an exact copy of him in the film and showing A 110 LB Women can literally do the exact same things he can...

Also wasnt a fan of the Ending, I get that they wanted to set up Another film ...But having Winston turn on Wick goes against everything that was set up in all 3 films...its been established in all 3 films there was a respect and friendship there between them 2, and Its all absolutely clear that If theres 1 person in the entire world that Knows what Wick is capable of it was Winston...The last thing he would do is turn on Wick...

but again I get it...They clearly got a direction and another story to tell...I just wish they could have got there Without having the movie end With something that was completely out of character and didnt make sense...

overall, Excellent movie...some INSANE action sequences...

The Book, Knife and Horse fight action sequences to start the movie were AMAZING!

PS...

I completely understand and recognize, Halle Berry Character's has actually been received very well...I'm only given my opinion here

I agree completely. I'm not a big Halle fan but I was open to her being good in this (although very skeptical due to the physical ineptitude rumored from the set of Catwoman). I give her credit for doing the fight scenes well but they were obviously on a specific mission to demonstrate her acumen and blew it by diluting Wick's in the process.
One of the things I love about the Wick movies is that his opponents are not chumps. The bad guys are supposed to be a threat and they deliver. However, when Halle is doing the-wick, we revert to standard tropes of bad-guy-sits-still-to-receive-combo. Her acting was adequate but the movie down-shifts big time for the entire time she is in it.

I still think she was miscast even though she did well enough with the stunts. She has to be very proud of her physical performance. Good for her. The major fault was in the hands of the directors/writers.

I didn't get why she left him to die in the desert. What was that about?

reply

She fulfilled her blood debt or whatever they called it. Wick even called them even and sent her off. The rest was her being a dick. I guess maybe she knew the Elder would find Wick?

reply

I wish he slapped the shit out of her for spitting his water.

reply

The Elder bit was effing stupid.

reply

Wow, you certainly can write a lot about crap like this.

Anyway, I agree with you, I felt the same exact way watching it: now SHE is doing exactly the same stuff that he does? So anybody can do that? wtf...

Perhaps she is one of the better assassins in John Wick universe, but not as good as Wick. The main villain in this was a pretty dangerous assassin to. In the previous film Cassian proved to be on Wick's level or just about. Both of those guys would probably beat Halle Berry's character

reply

I thought she did good. I think they wanted to show off her skills and illustrate that she was one of the top assassins of the world, but I never got the impression that she was Wick's equal.

Overall I thought it was good, but that they should have wrapped up Wick's story at the end.

"Suddenly John Wick just doesnt seem as Special watching a 110 LB Women do exactly what he does."

It's because of Hollywood's laughable feminist agenda, plus the writers and director are probably simps. In reality, chicks can't even come close to competing with men in fighting. The best female fighter in the world would get mollywhopped by a no-name, unranked male who fights in dive bars for peanuts.

I agree, her character was out of place in the John Wick universe and as you said it took away from John. Hell they even gave her a dog and the guy shooting her dog was what set her off (quite similar to John).
