Nature's balance
I don't think this was a sci-fi movie, I think it was natural phenomena. When nature gives a poison it also provides the cure. I think Liam and Rose were literally and figuratively a reflection of that.
The fact that he knew who he was and still did the right thing in the end was a powerful moment.
