Seems like it's jumping in an already set narrative where Lex is already hating Supes and they're already battling it out. There is also the issue of having so many characters in one movie at the same time which could dilute screentime for some over the other to do any real justice for their worth. It could be messy depending on how it goes but I do have hopes for Gunn since he's handled a bunch of them before.
shareGunn's movie always have too many characters shoved in them. Gets worse with each new feature. Guardians 3 and Suicide Squad was just a high speed revolving door of characters we never got to learn a damn thing about.

A Superman origin story may not be necessary as most people know Superman and his story. Most people know he and Lex are sworn enemies. Supergirl and her story are fairly well know because of the TV series.
I am fairly certain that most movie watchers aren't familiar with Hawkgirl, Krypto, Green Lantern and any other superhero who may be in the film. Introducing them without proper backstory could muddy the story. OTH, the geniuses who run WB and DC must know what they are doing. ;-)
But judging from the trailer, it seems Gunn knows how to present Superman.
I think overall the trailer looked really good but the Hawkgirl, Green Lantern and Mister Terrific bits all looked jarring and unfortunately I think will pull the film down.
Super teams may well work for Marvel but once again DC is making a mistake by rushing to get their Avengers out there when it isn't really necessary.
Or just make some JL film with a completely different cast and allow the main players to breath in their own continuities. They're already doing it with The Batman series, so why not Superman...
We already know Superman's origin.
Indiana Jones and Star Wars started off in the middle of the action with great success. This movie is about Superman, therefore he'll be its main focus. He was either in every trailer scene or the focus when he wasn't: "Superman! Superman! Superman!"
My issue is that they show SUPERMAN with a bloody nose and mouth in the very 1st trailer totally humanizing him when he's the MAN OF STEEL and not supposed to be that way. Please say it isn't so that they're making SUPERMAN soft?? 🙄
shareI don't think so. I think he met up with someone as powerful as he is. Remember what Lobo has done to Superman. And obviously, DOOMSDAY!
