shareThere is no conspiracy against Cavill. This is what happens with studios and their franchises all the time. WB and DC more often than most.
However...if you told me there was what we'll call professional animosity towards Cavill from studio suits because of the divisiveness the Snyder-verse faced...I would not be surprised. Whether it was fair or not.
It does kind of suck that he became a casualty of Dwayne Johnson's failed power grab with the DCEU.
Yeh in a way DJ attempted coup was something like Operation Valkyrie , and Cavill was like a casualty involved in that ..rounded up and given the chop! (along with the rest of the DCEU, gadot, affleck, momoa, even keaton!)
shareAt this point, I'd be okay with a solo movie with Keaton returning as Old Man Wayne.
shareProbably the dream DC movie I want most.
shareApparently Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans; Prince of Persia; Now You See Me) was gonna write a Batman Beyond movie about fifteen twenty years ago-before Nolan showed up. Not sure what became of it.
shareReally? Interesting.
shareYeah, a lot of interesting superhero movies end up that way. Cancelled.
shareYes, it's a shame. There was actually a Batman Beyond-type movie proposed and being scripted for Keaton's Batman before James Gunn came in and gave orders for the scriptwriter(s) to 'down tools'. No guarantee it would have been made of course, but the fact that we came so close is frustrating.
shareThat sums up DC these days.
shareThe humiliation Cavill faced after Black Adam could've been avoided if the studio didn't let The Rock dictate their scripts and who he should be facing off on screen.
Recasting and rebooting Superman was inevitable, we've seen it time and time again with franchises that aren't doing well, you get to the point of bringing in fresh blood in order to start over.
