When Commander Waterford said WTF while June and Nick were making out, I think it was actually actor Joseph Fiennes breaking character. His disbelief about the poor writing of this scene probably forced him to yell it.

Commander Lawrence organized a prisoner exchange between Gilead and Canada. He would have needed approval from some higher ups before he could do this. Those higher ups agreed to it because they wanted Commander Waterford to stand trial in Gilead for treason. They would have conducted a trial and hanged him on the wall to show the people in Gilead what happens to traitors.

How is Commander Lawrence going to explain to his superiors that he does not have Commander Waterford? Both he and Nick released Commander Waterford into a no-man's land area where he was beaten to death by women who are considered to be wanted criminals in Gilead. June is perhaps the most wanted person in all of Gilead, yet Commander Lawrence and Nick were working with her to plan an extrajudicial killing without the knowledge of their superiors! It is beyond ridiculous.

I loved that reaction. It was so over the top (not the acting). As if an homophobe was watching two men kissing.

I agree with you..How did they organize all the woman to get to that part of the woods? How will Nick and Lawrence answer this? June said to Luke that she will leave after saying goodbye to the baby. Where will she run to? It was too neatly bound in a parcel.
I assume next season will center on Serena Waterford. She was hardly in the finale. I find her captivating as an actress so hopefully they will showcase her more in the next season.

Commander Lawrence is guilt free. He organized the prisoner repatriation, then turned him over to Nick who was responsible for transporting Waterford to prison. Nick better have a good story though, or else head to Canada himself.
