Why is The Big Lebowski so highly praised and yet this is virtually ignored?

TBL is the closest equivalent to UtSL that I can think of. Silver Lake blows Lebowski out of the water, though.

This film is awesome and epic in scope! I love seeing this bizarre, shallow world of hipsters and their weird obsessions, and all the eccentric characters with their freaky motivations. Even though as an early Gen X, I am probably closer in generation to the characters in Lebowski, I find Silver Lake far more intriguing.

Lebowski is a much smaller film and just OK. It only gives you a lunch-sized portion of slacker weirdness whereas Silver Lake gets you an all-you-can-eat buffet.

I find anyone who has seen it loves this film and regards it very highly.

Could be a sign of the times though films now are swallowed up by sheer volume of shit and constant streaming options, whereas a Big Lebowski was era of films being played on TV regular and ppl having less choice

Not sure if you are aware there were a lot of issues with this film on release and it got held back and eventually slipped out to streaming with very little promotion

I don't love TBL it's good but i prefer Fargo or even Hail Cesar which no one likes thats a very underrated film
