Why is The Big Lebowski so highly praised and yet this is virtually ignored?
TBL is the closest equivalent to UtSL that I can think of. Silver Lake blows Lebowski out of the water, though.
This film is awesome and epic in scope! I love seeing this bizarre, shallow world of hipsters and their weird obsessions, and all the eccentric characters with their freaky motivations. Even though as an early Gen X, I am probably closer in generation to the characters in Lebowski, I find Silver Lake far more intriguing.
Lebowski is a much smaller film and just OK. It only gives you a lunch-sized portion of slacker weirdness whereas Silver Lake gets you an all-you-can-eat buffet.
