The Orville gets something right that I have not seen much of in Star Trek in a long time
Something that made Star Trek great in the past was an emphasis on how the different planets and species come together to offer their strengths and receive benefits in the strength of others. Sort of a metaphor for today's diverse society and how it should be cherished.
The Orville does a great job showing how the different member planets can help each other while still finding a place for humans to be special as well. I'm not saying the show is perfect, but this is an aspect (I'm halfway through season 3) that I much approve of.
