The Orville cancelled - season 3 to be last

I can't see any post about it here, so I wanted to share the news that season 3 is to be the last.

Original reports months ago were that Hulu was the one behind cancelling it but further news suggests Seth is over it and is busy moving onto other things. Hulu doesn't want to make it without his character, even though Seth is happy to hand over to someone else.

Such a shame because this is just the sci-fi show so many of us had been waiting for.

So if it were to continue, who do you think would make a great new captain of the ship?

reply

The captain isn't the issue. Seth himself has done an excellent job in its creation and guidance. Without Seth, the quality won't exist.

Ah - I wish it went under because of low viewer numbers, cause then it would send a message. Oh well.

reply

Oh no! :O That is so unfair! It's this damned pandemic that ruined it!

McFarlane didn't agree to continuing with the show which is his creation. I'm pretty sure he prefers it that way instead of selling it off to Hulu or to some other showrunner who would miss the mark.

I hope it continues beyond season 3. I'm really enjoying the variety of space shows we have on TV and while The Orville isn't the best (that's easily The Expanse, and I still slightly prefer Discovery and Picard as well), it's probably the most fun and purely enjoyable.

YOU WILL BE SILENT!

I do not agree with this decision
