Eight is enough. Ten is pushing it.
Our friends in the UK had the right idea with their shows. They don't overdo it like we absolutely must in the US. Some of these shows on regular network TV has 24 episodes in one season. When I see that, I know there's going to be filler.
Of course, when the showrunners know they're receiving a shortened season, they'll sit there and stretch out the episodes as much as they can. Kurt Sutter did with "Mayans M.C.". I remember one of them being near as long as a film with a run time of ~90 minutes.
I know Netflix loved to pad the timing when "Luke Cage" was still airing. With thirteen episodes and some of them being over an hour, I'd be sitting here hoping the damn thing would end already. Guess my wish went a little too far.
