Whats Stephen King think of this?

Considering he absolutely HATES the Kubrick movie, wonder how he feels about them adapting his Doctor Sleep book into a sequel to Kubrick's movie.

Don't believe everything you sense.

He's said he's very happy with the Doctor Sleep film.

Despite heavily borrowing the iconic visuals and ideas of Kubrick's film, the movie isn't really a direct sequel to either the Kubrick film or the original book, but rather both. The director approached King and asked him what would bridge the gap between the book and the movie. It seems like the Doctor Sleep film will follow as if Kubrick made a version of The Shining Stephen King was happier with.

i saw an interview where King just absolutely praised Mike Flanagan.

literally would've sucked Mike off, if he was given the chance.
guess he's trying to sell more of his novels ..?

The Kubrick film absolutely changed the book it was adapting in a number of significant ways, both narratively and thematically. It's not strange that Stephen King would dislike that film, but prefer this which successfully services as a sequel to the film while also offering tribute to the book. And as a fan of the books, I can say that that intention was successful.

King is a total sellout and shill to Hollywood in his old age. From reading his Twitter feed, he praises all of his latest film and TV adaptations as the best masterpieces ever.

He (King) said that he was happy with the film (especially the ending), but he disliked the fact that they showed the baseball kid being killed on screen. He felt it was too much. The director actually said that in an interview.

reply

That's funny. He kills a lot of kids in his books.

According to the bonus content on the blu-ray, King loves this movie, and he also seems to have relaxed a bit on his hatred of Kubrick. He said he can appreciate that the movie was adapted to serve as a sequel both to his original book and to Kubrick's movie.
