Why do the Americans have to remake everything?
Even stuff that's in English?
Can they really not understand accents other than their own?
How come the rest of us can?

because america is the greatest country in the world. we dont watch british shows. british people watch american shows. not the other way around. we're much better than you. you look up to us. we don't look up to you. deal with it.
shareI'm an American.....a real one in fact. Native ancestry born prior to 1980 and can recall the best version of this nation.....so far I hope, before flags, "professional" sports equipment & uniforms, clothes, machinery, & everything else was made in china/india/south amer. & I always choose british/irish/aussie/kiwi/french/italian shows over shows made here, with an occasional exception (banshee, the wire, breaking bad) because, creatively, they're just better for me.
If you have to tell someone you're better than them.........are you.........really?
Because, unfortunately, we have no imagination.

I wouldn't say 'we' as many American viewers look to shows in England, Ireland, Australia, Spain, Argentina etc., for original and imaginative tv shows/movies.
It's Hollywood/La La Land that lacks the imagination. When they try to revamp a hit show from the UK it almost ALWAYS tanks. FOR GOOD REASON. Watch the original. The Office was a rare exception.
Don't f@ck with me fellas! This aint my first time at the rodeo.
In this instance it is because the producers wanted to make something that was in the mould of the successful Sons of Anarchy (2008) and the film The Baytown Outlaws (2012) was a little too close to the mark. Then they discovered that the makers of the film Animal Kingdom were shopping around the idea of making that into a series (thanks to the success of the Underbelly series here), and no Australian TV Networks or Foxtel were interested, so the producers picked up the rights to it.
Have to wonder though if the show would have been a bit different if Showtime had have stuck with it instead of passing on it (with TNT eventually picking it up).
I thought FX would've been better if they wanted to do basic channel. They let you get away anything.
shareThe Canadians made a series about an outlaw biker gang in 2002 so even Sons of Anarchy wasn't that original http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299283/
shareUsually it is the original producers because they want to make money. Rick Gervais made tons more from US The Office than the original. It's not "Americans". More episodes, more commercials, mo' money.
shareDont believe that B.S. I'm from SoCal and have noooo problem understanding various accents
They do it because of MONEY.
this is NOT a remake. this is a TV show based on a movie. It is not the same as they do with European movies, when they do not even give credits.
shareCan't really call this a remake - simply inspired by the movie. Kind of funny seeing characters in an American show with Aussie sounding names though. Where's Randy and his mates, Tyler and Chuck?
The original film is a classic - one of the best films ever made. The show is watchable - just.
I thought the movie sucked, but I've always had some difficulty "getting" Australian films.
