Adoption and Kate

I'm sorry, but if I were going to give up a baby for adoption, I would not choose Kate at all. Her morbid obesity makes her a high risk. If you are trying to pick ideal parents for your child, the first thing I would look for are people who take care of themselves.

reply

A high risk for what? Fat people are perfectly capable of being good parents. And being slim doesn't make you a good parent either.

Also being obese doesn't mean you do not take care of yourself. *eye roll*

reply

Being morbidly obese is a heath risk. She is a heart attack waiting to happen.

If I were to choose a parent for my child, my first priority would be to choose a healthy person who is going to be there for that child as they grow up.

BTW- the argument that Kate and Toby had at the trunk of the car would have been a deal killer for me as well.

reply

My top priority would be making sure the person was stable and loving and would make a decent parent to the child. I really could care less about most other things, least of all the way they looked.....

Kate’s morbid obesity points to the fact that she is not especially stable. She allowed herself to fall into a state that is very unhealthy. And frankly the argument with Toby in front of the prospective birth mom points to her critical nature, which is infuriating. The healthy and stable response would have been to laugh and say “well, I guess we found the diapers!!” And let that be the end. But no, There was that “blame piñata” comment. I would not want my child to be raised by someone like that. Kate is a train wreck

reply

Being obese does not mean you are unstable. Being slim doesn't mean you are.

reply

It does mean you are unhealthy.

reply

But you can also be slim and unhealthy.

reply

Yes. People who are addicts are very thin. But they don’t look healthy either.

I wonder if the actress has to keep the weight on for the show....

reply

I don’t think so. They could have padded her if it was necessary.

reply

I still think they are going to get scammed by the mother. I think it's odd that they are having them spend so much time together wouldn't that be wrong?

reply

If it is an open adoption that is not uncommon. But I think the mom might just realize what an awful damaged person Kate is. Really— I just feel like screaming at her when she is on the screen. She is so critical of Toby and so self pitying for herself.

reply

Fair enough if that is what happens. But as you say I think the mother, especially since she is older will see how damaged Kate is and change her mind or just use her and Toby to pay for all the costs and then change her mind and run.

I think Kate is the last person who should be having kids and is it just me or has she already forgotten about the one she has? She seems to just want to fill a gap in her life and a child is not like a donut.

She is also way too demanding and critical of Toby, I am waiting for him to have an affair he gets no emotional support at all.

reply

Yes- I think that the season 3 finale indicated that either Kate had died or that she and Toby were no longer together. I still don’t see what in the world he sees in her.

reply

I think Toby fell in love with the ideal of her, something he created in his own mind and won't let go of her. He manages her in the end, making sure he doesn't do or say something to upset her, making sure she gets what she wants even if it means driving her cuck like to her ex boyfriend's house so she lay some speech on him that he won't care about anyway.

He is hanging in there but it won't last everyone reaches their breaking point, especially when they aren't getting what they need.

reply

Also- I find that this is something that just I find odd— but Toby and Kate seems to place an inordinate emphasis on popular culture and having common interests. But these things really don’t determine the quality of a relationship. For instance, I don’t think Randall and Beth place any importance on these things. In fact, one might argue that they really don’t have any interests in common besides each other. And they have a very strong, heathy relationship.

reply

They are into their pop culture even to the point where the mother wanting to adopt the kid out is seen as great based purely on her shared interest of it - which of course can be easily faked if she went to Toby and Kate's social media accounts (which they would most likely have) and just did some quick research.

I think their size limits them a lot, Toby has slimmed down a fair but but Kate is still huge. And there was that ep where Toby wanted to have sex and Kate just didn't want to based on how she saw herself. So I guess in a situation like that you have to have something more other than just being into each other?

I can't see how anyone could have a healthy strong relationship with Kate.
