Yay the violent, macabre cliche all over again, another dark and ugly movie ho hum

I was first drawn in by the image of Will Smith picking up a sword and appearing perplexed and then further enticed by fairies and elves. My imagination conjured all kinds of fun and cool things and then I started watching and my hopes quickly descended. This movie starts off with violence, continues with violence, gore and allegory of stereotypes about the worst things about our society and finishes off with horrific violence. I am not talking about fantasy violence but gun violence, horror and depravity. Can't the movie industry come up with SOMETHING DIFFERENT other than NON STOP VIOLENCE all the time and backwards basal primitive behaviors for once? It is an utter cliche and so tired of it. There is little fantasy about this movie and more of a critique of how messed up our society has become and it is no wonder when the movie and television industry continually indoctrinates people with violence and depravity to the point where they think it is normal. An "artful masterpiece". Come off of it, it is pure crap, more of the same ugly crap.
The only thing about this movie that might be worth noting is the graffiti on the walls saying how the elves keep the humans up in order to keep the orcs down. Well the movie makers are the same as what that fictional graffiti describes, rich scum pretending to entertain you in order to keep you down. Do not let your imagination mislead you. This movie is complete garbage.

The overall problem for me was the movie devolved very quickly the moment they discovered the wand. Like you, I thought the beginning provided a lot of potential with the world they set up. Then it turned into a nighttime escort mission.

It's like they wanted an action movie, but didn't know how to set up the need for one, and didn't realize its strength was in the drama of the world. Just terrible decisions overall. I mean, they could've just had the two answering more random daytime disturbance calls during that second half, without ever resolving the main story, and it still would've been a superior film.

If a movie wants to be a violent actioner when it doesn't need to be, then the violence is going to stand out and look like its being done for the wrong reason. Too many bad decisions overall.
