JFC, this is Season 8 of Game of Thrones all over again. Characters doing stuff that, in prior seasons, would have been unimaginable. He couldn't see that it was the sister behind the hit etc? And FFS ***WENDY*** was the one to send down to Mexico run the cartel. SHE has the required ruthlessness and perceptiveness. And bringing back virtually every other character from prior seasons...

I don't understand why all of these high powered cartel connected or threatened people with boatloads of cash don't have their own bodyguards.

Darlene has no guard at her house?

Wendy and Marty don't have someone guarding them (and their kids) 24-7?

Javi takes care of the hits himself?

Heck, Ruth became the richest woman in the county, she should definitely have hired a bodyguard.
