Thoughts on the body count in season 2 - SPOILERS

Agent Petty's death was a shock, in that of all people that could have killed him, it was Ruth's thuggish father. He wasn't a Boy Scout by any stretch but he had redeeming qualities. At least he was leaving the operation to be back in Chicago with his drug-addicted mother, doing something noble for the right reason. It gave me some sympathy for him.
Now Cade getting riddled with bullets by the Navarro main hit-man was MORE than satisfying. By the time he bought it, you really couldn't find a good quality in him. He got the ending he deserved.
The death that most surprised me was that of Jacob Snell, being offed by his own wife. Of course, nobody should put that past Darlene, who I think is one determined lady. Still, I didn't see that coming at all.

Overall, season 2 was very good. There's this sense of tension that goes with the day-to-day existence of the Byrd family. You never know what might happen next.

I was surprised with Agent Petty death. I thought there was more room there with the Petty vs Byrde/cartel angle. Who is going to be their adversary now? Darlene will definitely be a problem for them next season.

All in all, I don't think I enjoyed this season as much as the first, but it gathered steam towards the end. Looking forward to s3.

I think that Darlene and the KC mob will become the primary antagonists in season 3.

When Petty spoke with his mother about doing one more thing before returning to her, I felt like that foreshadowed him dying. I had a feeling he would die

Jacob’s death seemed random. She kills him because she does not agree with the deal with the Mexicans and then agrees to the deal in exchange for a baby?

The only explanation is that she is mentally deteriorating.

I think that Darlene has always been a person who gets her way, whether through Jacob, through their hired muscle or on her own. It's obvious that Jacob was getting a message from the Navarro Cartel that they viewed Darlene as a problem, thus prompting him to plan her murder. She realized this and murdered him first. I agree that Darlene is unbalanced mentally but I also think she's calculating.

Yes calculating and devious. The best character on the show. But killing Jacob was just not credible to me..They worked hand in hand, and he adored her. I just didnt buy it. But she will be the force to be reckoned with next season... For Sure.

I gotta be honest when I say that I like the show and all, but they're just not very good at killing people off. Del's death in Season 1 was pure shock value, and a total waste of a good actor in Esai Morales. I'm a big Esai fan, and I wanted more from him,we barely got to know him at all. The Langmore brothers, again shock. I feel like they were just reaching their potential before being offed. Buddy started off a weird, and creepy character to a likeable old chum. His death was inevitable, but they could have kept him longer. Jacob Snell was hands down the worst death by far. Very good character, and actor. Another wasted, shock value death. Agent Petty I could have cared less about because I hated the character to begin with.
