Talk about an awful release date.

Firstly it's very late into 2024, I was hoping for a release earlier in the year. Secondly Christmas day? Yeah okay, good luck with your box office returns.

Focus Features will release Nosferatu in theaters for Christmas on December 25, 2024.

Peter Kujawski, Chairman of Focus Features, said in an official statement released this afternoon, “The audacious filmmaking of Robert Eggers is always a gift for fans, and we can promise that his Nosferatu is planning quite the Christmas feast.”

Sometimes it makes sense (see Barbie and Oppenheimer). I'm not sure a horror movie during peak Christmas time is a great idea, but maybe it's worked in the past.

Not everyone celebrates Xmas, not everyone likes the big holiday season releases, but people do go to the movies during that stretch. It's not like any Eggers film is geared toward the masses either.

Jordan Peele's next horror/thriller is releasing on 25th December 2024 as well. It's gonna decimate Nosferatu at the box office.
