It will be Japans revenge on the USA, who terrorized Japan during WW2 with atomic weapons killing many civilians. After the USA illegally won the war, they went on to write the history and forced Japan to make the 1962 film where Kong wins the fight. Now some 60 years later, its time for Japan to even the score. Godzilla must destroy Kong and claim victory here.

shareThere are two versions of the '62 movie. In the American version Kong (the American made monster) won. In the Japanese version Godzilla (Japanese) won.
I doubt either will die in this movie. It would end one of the franchises.

One can debate the morality of what happened, although I'd point out that in all likelihood far more civilians would've died in a conventional invasion, not to mention the troop casualties on both sides. The atomic bombings shocked the Japanese out of fighting to the last man (which is what they would've done otherwise).
As I recall, in this latest series of monster films both Kong and Godzilla are on the side of humanity. Why would they fight each other?
