..I can't quite pinpoint why, but Leslie is my favorite Durrell. I thought his brief emotional scene with his mother in Ep4 ("I'm not happy!") was really poignant.
I like all the characters, really, and in general love the show. But Leslie is for sure my favorite.
Leslie apparently was Mother's favourite in real life. Margo thought it was perhaps because he had less talent than his brothers, both of whom became successful writers, she thought Mother instinctively knew that he was less likely to succeed in life.
shareI saw an interview with the actor who plays Leslie and he describes Leslie as being lost, aimless. I think that could be what I respond to. It makes you feel for him& relate to him, IMHO

The writer brother is too arrogant, and Gerald is boring after some time with his consistent animal obsession. At least Leslie keeps it interesting.

How strange, because I would say that Leslie is my least favorite. He seems to only go around wanting to shoot things, and there's not much to his character otherwise.

shareWell, I have only come to the second season. But I haven't seen much character developement in Leslie yet, except for that he has just started to show an interest in photography and paintings.

Season 3 has a really good arc for all of the characters except for Jerry, who is the same as always - just catching animals and being antisocial.
Nice to hear that the characters will get more character developement in the future. Like I said in another thread, Leslie must still be young in the 2nd season (maybe even still a teenager), so there is time left for him to mature.
