Would you consider Tom Hardy an A-lister?
Most of us would definitely consider Hardy to be a great character actor, but does he qualify as an A-lister by this point?

shareSuperior actor, that's for certain.
But A-listers also have to be household names. Tom Hardy is not one of them, unfortunately. Don't know if he ever will be unless he becomes the next Bond.
Heck, many people can see him in a movie and not even know he was Bane. I look at Bane, I even hear him... and I don't see Tom Hardy myself.
In the end, he's just not the lead enough. There are very few SAG members who are supporting A-listers, like Morgan Freeman.

Oh, come on---MAD MAX:FURY ROAD definitely put on him on the A-list, since he was the lead of the film, and he killed it, just like he kills it in just about everything I've seen him in. I'm looking forward to see DUNKIRK because a lot of my fave British actors are in it, including him, which is a plus. So hell yeah, he's an A-lister without a doubt. Here's a really good review of DUNKIRK, btw:

And he's done a lot of leads---you just haven't counted or seen them yet, lol.
Tom Hardy's character is going to be your favorite character in the movie that's for sure. He almost made me shed my tears.
shareI think that to be considered an "A-list" actor, you'd have to have played many big lead roles. He's still most known as a supporting actor. But no doubt he is definetaly A++ quality. Extraordinary actor.
shareI don't think he is a true A-lister, but he certainly is unbelievably talented. I consider him as a better actor than most A-lister (he's actually my favourite actor lol).
shareHardy's not in Forbes list of highest paid actors (male and female) of 2016 (what many equate with current A-list).
Dicaprio, Pitt, Pratt, Wahlberg, Damon, Depp, Diesel, Cruise, Affleck, Downey, Sandler, Smith, McConaughey are.

Hardy is considered a star with foreign appeal though.
Re general popularity, both Hardy and Harry Styles are considered "Breakout" by Google's statistics (probably based on searches/clicks) and have appeal in very similar countries though Hardy is also popular in Ukraine & Lithuania where Harry is not, and Harry seems more popular in North/South America and Australia. During occasional spikes (including current one) Hardy is more popular.

Add Rylance, Murphy and Branagh to the comparison and you can see Hardy and Styles are far above them based on Google's statistics:

If you instead pop some of those A-listers in for comparison, Hardy compares well in popularity. For example, similar popularity to Matt Damon:

I'm not sure A-listers even exist anymore. All actors have bombs every once in a while

I always thought that A-listers are defined by their amount of popularity and box-office success in general, not absence of bombs at all in their career. Because, from your point of view, not even DiCaprio is an A-list actor, actually.
Nolan, I love you forever!share
He has the potential but not quite there yet. I think Child 44 was supposed to consolidate that status and look what happened.
Whatever you are, be a good one.
