It's funny two years on that this is rarely talked about
Look at say the other critic darling from that year Get Out, it's still talked about today as a game charger in horror. I think it's a far better film and more rewatchable then Ladybird. But Gerwig's film is rarely talked about these days and it's rating goes down every few months on IMDB. I don't dislike the film, Laurie Metcalf is the best thing in it and Timothee Chalamet played a good asshole. Script is solid. I still don't think Saoirse Ronan deserved a Oscar nod imo, and either Gerwig for Best Director or Best Film.
I remember walking out of the film, just not feeling it was as great as the critic's thought it was. Also great to find out that many others on here thought the same. I said it then and I said it now, time won't be kind to this film and it's stock will fall. It's a fine coming of age film and that's it.
