The two women in the control room are awful

Seriously. It's not even like I'm just apathetic to them, I actually started hating them before the first challenge ended.

I'm sure having a character that monitoring everything and occasionally screwing around with things could be at least be fairly interesting, maybe even actually creepy if done well, but it was just executed in the worst way possible. They come off less like evil controllers of the players' fate and more like two teen girls sitting in a movie theater who think they're funny and subsequently refuse to shut up. That's about the amount of interest they show, too.

They didn't seem like they were even trying to be scary, they missed being funny by a long shot and missed being entertaining by an even longer one. I'm not going to say that the show would be scary without them there, but it definitely would be closer to it without those two chiming in every fifteen seconds, and a good, creepy or funny (I honestly don't know what the hell they're even going with on this show anymore) host could have done wonders. But instead they took the easiest and most obvious way out with the hosts, and it didn't fit, and it sucked.

Heck, I'd say this show could have done fairly well without hosts. Sound is important in horror; silence works well for tension. Have the instructions written on the walls in fake blood or something. Cliche? Yes. Obnoxious? Not as much as they were.

Most likely, they aren't even present when the players are being filmed. Or, if they are, they aren't in costume. It looks to me like they film the players playing the games and then the girls just dub in funny lines later -- probably written by a staff of writers.

That's probably why the hosts come off as stiff and rather uninteresting ... they are just reading lines.

The cheerleader episode was the most animated I've seen them, and often the humor was like "Sylvia. Do you know what I hate about cheerleaders?" "No, what?" "That they're cheerleaders." That's not an actual joke but that's the kind of stuff they say, which if they lean into the comedy of not being funny it could work. Just because they're goth and emo doesn't necessarily mean they need to say everything slow. One of their funniest lines was upon seeing their childhood picture in the Envy room to which they quipped "Who are those cute little girls? I bet they grew up to be pretty!" That's the kind of direction I hope they go. I also liked when the one cheerleader was too scared to start and they cut to the twins applying makeup, "Is she dead yet?" "No, she's still in the Hellevator."

Good contestant selection is key also. The cheerleaders got a lot thrown at them because they were all beautiful fit girls who could take two goth girls razzing them. It'd be neat to see fratboys, or perhaps two high school senior-age couples on their first date. Youtubers, etc.

I love the moments they react for real, especially when they were on the edge of their seats "Is this really happening??" at the end of the cheerleader episode. And when the really scared cheerleader tried to hang from a chain to escape the rats and ended up losing her grip landing on the concrete floor on her back. I suspect they are actually rooting for the contestants and still learning how to appropriately play that they are against them.

Watch closely. The players never interact with the hosts. We hear the hosts insult the players and it seems appropriate for the situation, but if you pay attention, the players never react like they've heard the insults nor do they try to talk back. Obviously, that is all dubbed in later in editing.

Now, the players probably do hear the producers tell them whose turn it is and when to go and some instructions on what they have to do to win each game. That is all edited out and the hosts dub funny insults over the producer's instructions.

Most likely, they tell the players that they have 3:00 to find all the body parts, for example. But, there is no big clock on the wall, so the players really don't know how long they took. The editors then have the ability to tell the players that they've won, even if it took them 5 or 6 minutes.

I mean, that would destroy the show if all players failed and no one was available to run the final game. Plus, it also doesn't look good to have only one player run it, so there will usually be two winners.

You obviously have not seen one episode this season except that one! The Twins DO interact with the contestants now. The first ep this season with the chefs had them talk back! That ep and the next one had the Twins show up in person to kidnap one of the contestants! So they ARE there, they DO see, they DO interact!!

And the Twins won the second ep of season 2 with the Slackers. Didn't you see that ep?! All four lost, the Twins won!

I swear we are NOT watching the same show!!! That show is great and the Twins are excellent!!! THEY make the show!! I want more eps!!

Don't say anything bad about Jojo
