Anyone else found this movie absolutely amazing horror genre experience?

Hey,

I was kinda blown away by this movie. I mean i watch tons of horror flicks, but can't remember last time I've had chills during one. I took me by surprise, i kinda expected OK flick, but saw the best horror movie since the first "Sinister". Anyone else?

reply

It was alright, but no way would I describe it as an "amazing horror experience"!

reply

Absolutely loved it! I, too, am a horror fan and I was thoroughly entertained and spooked. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

reply

Totally agree, amazing horror movie (not flick).

Just saw it. It was a decent movie with some pretty creepy stuff going on. There was something missing about it though...something I can't put my finger on yet. But still it was worth watching.

I thought Diane was very boring. There were no rules to her. Okay, she can only do stuff while in the dark. Pretty cool idea. But she can also turn of lights? And she can teleport, unless the filmmakers want her to bang on a door for scares. And mindcontrol-abilities because otherwise the plot would fall apart :')

Compare this to Freddy Krueger. He has boundaries (only during sleep). So the characters try to avoid him by not sleeping, slowly losing sanity, eventually turning around to fight in the dreamworld.

This movie is just balls out whatever. There are no rules of engagement, and we are completely delivered to the whims of the lazy writers. And I love horror-movies, which means I don't care that much about writing at all.
It wasn´t scary. It wasn´t entertaining. That is, until the moment I realised how unemersed I was while laughing out loud during the `dramatic ending´.

But then again, Sinister didn't do much for me either :')

Ok thanks, just think You are in a wrong place of comments then:)

reply

No, I'm actually at exactly the right place. I love discussions, and I'm interested in hearing why this movie stands out to you. Why did you enjoy it so much? Did you find it scary or entertaining?

reply

She cannot teleport. She can just move really fast in the dark so fast infact that it can be mistaken for the ability to teleport. She is like Goku in the dark. If you are a fan of the anime called DragonballZ you'd know.

Hey, I have some more theories about Diana's abilities and limits. I posted it as a reply to the above thread. Perhaps you might find it interesting.

reply

Yeah, I thought it was nearly perfect. A classic in the making, for sure.

reply

Yes, this is amazing
Why is this rated 6.4?
Conjuring 2 got 7.5 and Lights Out is equal or close to that

reply

It was an enjoyable film, especially for a PG-13 one. I actually did jump a few times and some of the imagery was unsettling. I don't get what everyone's problem is, they get too wrapped up in judging movies on plausibility which makes no sense seeing as horror is usually about the unexplained/paranormal 

reply

Couldn't agree more!

This film could have been great, it had a decent premise that if told right could have been a great story and the monster of the film was great but combine with a great story behind it and less jump scares and more well thought out creepiness this film could have been great. I was very disappointed considering the rating this has.
