How did they convince the actors to do "The Movements"

The Movements were seriously stupid as hell, and the actors looked extremely dumb performing them. Like embarrassingly stupid looking. I would be ashamed if I was caught on camera looking so ridiculous. They all should receive Emmy nominations for keeping a straight face during the unintentionally hilarious ending.

I know, how mad, it's not like they're actors or performers and that is literally their job to act and do weird things in front of a camera. No idea how they were persuaded to do it.

I thought they were fitting. OA first learned them from an interdimensional shaman lady...I would totally expect a space indian to dance like that. Very traditional, native american-ish dancing. They used to do them all the time for like....rain and stuff.

The movements made me cringe but I think in the bigger picture adds some charm to the series. Now if they had gotten Jason Isaacs to do the movements other than that short thing he did, that would have been a real WTF moment! (I wonder if they tried?)

The ending sequence reminds me of an 80s after school special that was written by a 60s performance artist on LSD. As I said, charming.

During "Paradise" when Prairie and Homer spontaneously started doing those movements which seemed to resurrected Scott, the only thing I could think of is "WTF is this? And why am I watching it?" I occasionally like weird (try "Videodrome") but I agree with the OP on this one. I know I'm more than halfway through but I'm unsure whether I even want to invest the time for the remaining episodes.

I felt like I was being trolled when I saw the characters break into the 'movements' dancing. I felt embarrassed for the actors and irritated for investing time in a new series that just seemed thrilled to jump the shark in a jiffy. So I persevered... I feel that the 'movements' could have been more technical, less comical, but I still enjoyed the series... my suspension of disbelief is that no one could've accidentally danced themselves into another dimension without true insight / guidance from the afterlife, given how non-linear the movements are. Looking forward to season 2.

That's funny - I was asking myself the same question as the O.P. after I saw "La La Land."

"OMG, dancing is so stoopid! Like, I can't even! For sure! So gay!"
