Is Kingpin a hunchback, or something?

I saw this movie for the second time just a couple of days ago, and unlike the first time, this showing was PACKED, and I distinctly remember someone chuckling out loud when Kingpin appeared for the first time, with his ridiculously oversized body and the head not quite being on top. What is with this extreme portrayal?

He always looks like that!

the look of kingpin is based on bill sienkiewicz's rendering of him from the 80s. several moments in spider-verse channel sienkiewicz's art at its most trippy.

Unfortunately, that’s what kingpin usually looks like lol

Actually, no, his standard "look" is more like this:

They didn't want to portray a big ol fat guy as the villain (the one actually managed to kill Spider-Man, in one hit, nonetheless.) You know, with all those fat acceptance movements nowadays... So they made him extremely exaggerated and say it's "stylistic choice" instead.

Kingpin's look her was clearly influenced by Daredevil Love and War. A monstrous physique to juxtapose his humane love for Vanessa.
