After three episodes, I'm done


I was not crazy about the first episode of Mercy Street, but I was willing to stick with it for at least two more episodes to see if it improved.

IMO it has not. While the series is not awful, it's pitched at the "Law and Order SVU" level -- every character trait and every plot development is made painfully obvious. That could be a good thing if you like to surf the net while watching TV. But if you're expecting a program that commands your attention (as Downton Abbey often does), MS is not it.

OMG....I'm playing it on another page right now as I'm checking out its discussion board!

It would be more interesting if the show stayed more in the female perspective, as the story starts out with tension about (female) nurses encountering resentment from (male) doctors. That has a lot of conflict and history and sympathy on its side.

I think they're headed more in a North/South espionage direction, though...

Hey to each their own. Downton Abbey ceased to command my complete attention after season 2 and I never watched a single second after the disaster that was season 3.
