After three episodes, I'm done

I was not crazy about the first episode of Mercy Street, but I was willing to stick with it for at least two more episodes to see if it improved.

IMO it has not. While the series is not awful, it's pitched at the "Law and Order SVU" level -- every character trait and every plot development is made painfully obvious. That could be a good thing if you like to surf the net while watching TV. But if you're expecting a program that commands your attention (as Downton Abbey often does), MS is not it.

Yeah, three episodes in I have to agree it's not as good as I was hoping for. I plan to keep watching (indeed, exactly as you describe, I've already started having it on in the background), as I'm still holding out hope that the characters and storyline will gel mid-season. Pity though, I was hoping for more.

It will be a shame if it doesn't get better. They've clearly put a lot of money into it.

Yea so far its just ok.
I don't see it reaching the greatness of Downton Abbey I love that show after the first episode.

I commend you for making it that far. I couldn't make it through one episode. I came to the boards to find a reason to continue, but alas I didn't find one.

I was so hoping that this would be a good show. I live in Old Town Alexandria, blocks from the Carlyle House and what remains of the Mansion House Hospital. Carlyle House is a museum and wedding venue these days.

I watched the season finale tonight, and I do think it's gotten better, although I wish that Miss Hastings had not been written as such a stereotypical villain. Stick with it for the finale, if for nothing else than to see Aurelia get a little happiness.... I won't say anymore so as not to spoil it.

I had dvr’d the series and just got around to watching it last night. I watched episode 1 and didn’t expect too much it, just supposing it was to set the stage. I watched episode 2 immediately following and it just didn’t seem to offer much more. I wasn’t bored to death, but did keep watching the clock. I think the character development is paper thin, to the point that when each is introduced into the story, I could’ve have seen it coming (e.g. Ms. Hastings, Bullen, the clueless doting mother). While I have four episodes left, not sure I’ll watch them unless I have nothing better to do. Certainly won’t tune in for a second season.

My date last night was awful. And then he wouldn't even spend the night.

Everyone knows you have to do a 4 episode test not 3...

Sadly, I just deleted the episodes 3-6 yesterday. Can't invest time in this series based on the two episodes I watched.

I had an opportunity to watch all of the Season One episodes at one time. I wasn't impressed with the first episode, but stuck with it hoping for improvement. It was a total waste of my time. If there is a Season Two, I won't waste my time. The only character that rang true to me was that of James Green who was playing both sides against the middle in order to survive.
