$4 million more expensive per episode than Game of Thrones? Insulting!

There is absolutely no way to justify $120 million for 12 episodes when you look at the story and actors which are all mediocre.

Just compare it to Game of Thrones: $6 million on average per episode.

This is an insult for all Netflix subscribers, their money is wasted.

The only excuse can be that the production went horribly wrong. I have read there were struggles, but this is ridiculous.

Imagine how many other great series could have been produced with this budget.

LMAO @ you because I have no idea why the budget bothers you so much? You sound so freaking angry. Lol

I pay $120 a year and all of that doesn't go to one damn movie.

Oh,shut up, troll. Obviously you haven't even bothered to watch the show---otherwise you wouldn't be saying all that BS you just spouted off. I'm am old-school hip-hop head, and I really enjoyed the pilot for this flick. My only complaint is that it seemed to be going a little fast at times, but that's my only real complaint so far. Also, I've never seen one single episode of Game of Thrones, because I don't have cable, and I could give less than a fck if I ever do. It's about time the early hip-hop days were covered in a series, and I'm all for that. And they're only made 6 episodes so far, not 12. ( I was wrong---there have been six more episodes made, so there are 12 actual episodes of TGD.) Also, there are Hollywood movies made all the time whose budgets are a hell of a lot higher than that, so what the hell are you whining about it for? I also hate when people whine about movies and TV shows they haven't even seen, yet they always got something negative to say about it. Just shut the hell up, and actually watch the show, and THEN you can form an actual opinion about it.

I actually have to agree, watching this show, i defo thought no way to justify $120 million for what i seen in those 6 episodes! But i did enjoy the show.

There are twelve episodes. We only saw part one so far.

@emil-sah

Actually, I was wrong---there have been 12 episodes made---Netflix only put the first six out to see how the show catches on. The cost also blew up because of getting the rights to the music, the case being trained to dance and DJ, and the director making sure that the show would be true to the era.

reply

A lot of that would be music rights, (something GoT doesn't really deal with...) and not being affiliated with a parent company that owns said music rights

reply

To be fair, it's much cheaper to produce a show in Northern Ireland than it is in NYC.

reply

You do realize you don't have to watch it, and what's more, that's not your money Netflix spent on the show, you know that, right?

Actually, as a paid subscriber...it is.

reply

And as such, there are literally 1000's of other titles that make the $7.99/month worth it.

This show is far from mediocre. Game of thrones has well more than 6 million an episode, the latest season was 10 million an episode.
