Renewed for Season 3???!!! (SPOILER)

I had assumed the abrupt end of Season 2 meant it was cancelled and they just wanted it over with, already (So did I by that point!) That was one of the most meandering, poorly written seasons I've ever made it through... The "maybe he's good now" plotline just comes out of nohere and feels totally underdeveloped... And then he just suddenly gets shot in the face and dies!

How can there possibly be a Season 3? Does he live on in the Zap-Its, or something?

Season 3 is most likely to adapt its story from the second novel of King's Bill Hodges trilogy (yes, there were 3 books featuring the character). The TV series skipped this book because they wanted to finish up the Brady Hartsfeld storyline first (Brady remains in a coma throughout the second novel). Incidentally, the "redemption" of Brady in the TV second season story was not how King finished his version--Brady remains evil and never acquires a conscience.
