weak revenge

Kind of a weak revenge don't you guys think? The joke only last so long till Simon runs a DNA test on the baby, then he'll know for sure. And Robyn was gonna leave him anyway, so it would be an accidental fortune for Simon that it's not his baby (I know he still loves Robyn and blah blah, but just saying). Also with the hard evidence of the final gift (the CDs and stuff), there is no doubt Simon can launch a full investigation from cops that would lead to Gordo eventually, so there's no way for Gordo to get away with this.
All and all, a well-made movie, but the revenge isn't as masterful as the movie's tone set it to be.

maybe it wasn't about revenge but about teaching him something.

the gift of knowledge if you like

he obviously hadn't learned anything, even tho he nearly ruined Gordo's life, he did the same thing to the guy up for his job

Gordon was never the loser. He may have had a hard time which was unfairly put upon him but that doesnt make him the loser. He feels he did enough to make his point, whatever the level of revenge is, that was his "happy" revenge. He couldve asked for Simon to buy him an ice cream and be happy with the resolution.

"If God was a villain, he'd be me"

I actually thought the revenge was too strong. Simon is ruined. Things will never be right between him and Robyn. He lost his job, maybe his career. And his new baby, may not be his.

Oh, yeah, he could get a DNA test and maybe get another job, but the woman he loves might have just had a kid with his sworn enemy. She was at least molested.

And are we sure Gordo had nothing to do with Simon getting fired? He seemed pretty adept at messing with Simon's life--finding his address, breaking into his house, surreptitiously taping him, killing his fish, dog napping his pet, drugging and possibly raping his wife. Is it that much of a stretch to assume he could have messed with his career also? How did the other guy see his emails, anyway?

Simon definitely deserved a comeuppance, but this is going to torture him for the rest of his life. I'm not sure he deserved that for pulling a prank as a kid.

Yeah I wondered if Gordo planted all the slander, but Simon didn't deny any of it, so I think he was guilty as charged!

This movie sucked...the ending was weak...they built up the Whole Movie for a murder plot, but just flat out DROPPED.....crap.

Ha, ha. Don't know what movie you were watching, but aside from what may or may not have happened to Robyn, no one's life was in danger.

Why do they give out letter jackets to marching band? It's not a sport! We all know it!

I actually find it refreshing that it didn't devolve into murder. There is so, so much murder in film and television. It's nice when someone actually sees another possibility.

I did expect a violent confrontation between Simon and Gordo, but only because I've been conditioned to expect it by seeing it so many times before. Kudos to Edgerton for going another way.

P.S. GET THESE *beep* ADS OUT OF HERE, IMDb. THEY ARE SO *beep* ANNOYING!!!!!!!

Actually, whether or NOT the baby is Simon's the damage has been done. First, Robyn wants out of the marriage, so Simon will no be raising the son full time. Second, even if the baby is Simon's, that doesn't mean Gordon did NOT violate Robyn (I don't think he did).

The doubt will always be in Simon's mind, did Gordon *beep* his wife.

Because Simon is such an inveterate liar, he is unable to believe Gordon did NOT touch his wife.

It's a lie that burrows deep.

I agree I was left somewhat unfulfilled by the "revenge" but if we look at it like a harsh lesson and karma and NOT vengeance, then it's quite intelligent.
