The movie that never should of been made....

1/3 crying and sulking.
1/3 semi interesting time travel movie heist (but breaks the universe)
1/3 retread but worse and with less stakes than Infinity wars

While not totally Unique, Having Infinite the film from basically Thanos perspective and him as a constant looming threat actually created tension. the story and action perfectly chugged along, building on each other and finally culminating at the end.

I wouldn't change a thing

but endgame was weak. in retrospect it never should of been made and instead ended with infinity wars. Actual irreversible loss and stakes (besides just Tony) would of had so much more meaning. and a. clean reset for the new phase.

it also made no Sense that with one vial of the stuff thanks could bring his entire ship and armada through.. but they needed one vial per person to go to their world...

I think they were trying to get an Oscar but they should have focused on making an action movie. I thought the two Captain America movies were boring so I don't know why they let the Russo brothers make this monstrosity. The first 45 minutes seemed like a melodramatic tearjerker drama. I wish they recast Iron Man since the suit is more important than the actor.

I was mad that they treated Thor with such disdain. Thor is a god that Marvel should treat with respect. I guess some white supremacists still worship Thor/Odin so Marvel thought they were justified. If Thor was a Chinese god, he would not have fared so poorly. I believe Thor is an important cultural icon that shouldn't be dumped on.

I was also disappointed that so many other characters appeared in an Avengers film. I almost fell out of my chair during the scene when Captain Marvel led an all-female all star squad to save the day. Guardians of the galaxy is sort of a comedic team so their presence brought too much levity to what should have been a serious film. I always thought the sixties Batman show was too campy and Guardians of the galaxy rises to that level of comedy. Unfortunately, Marvel will probably embrace the Guardians of the Galaxy comedic formula for future movies.

In summary, I thought the action was overshadowed by an overabundance of relationships, characters, drama and comedy.

Winter Soldier is one of the best films in the Marvel Series.

Winter Soldier was enjoyable but I thought it suffered from the same problems as Endgame. Instead of focusing on Cap, supporting characters like Nick Fury, Black Widow and Falcon had too much screen time. I thought many of the scenes were made too melodramatic by having slow-motion close-ups while the keyboards and violins played solemn music. I'm mainly thinking of Cap's reunitions with Bucky and his old lady plus Nick Fury lying in the hospital bed. Also, Black Widow spent too much time offering dating tips to Cap.

PEOPLE WHO SAY THIS ARE USUALLY NOT VERY SERIOUS MCU FANS...WINTER SOLDIER IS THE MARVEL FLICK YOUR DAD ENJOYS...I KNOW MY DAD DID...AND HE HATES THE REST.

reply

It’s probably because serious MCU fans don’t have a firm grasp on reality, and Winter Soldier did.

With its subplot of a legal coup bleeding through the political and protective institutions, well, given the 3am insurrection on 2020 election night, CA2:TWS is the most realistic of the films.

reply

NOT EVERYTHING SHOULD BE REALISTIC.

reply

There's a flip side to that coin - not everything needs to be a serious MCU fanservice.

I am a big fan of the Avenger movie.
It makes me curious to compare the actors in the film with the comic version. The result? Wow! Remarkable. As in the following video https://youtu.be/FNhuEUkE2GM

Cool video. They didn't show the original white Nick Fury from the comics. David Hasselhoff even portrayed Nick Fury in a movie back in the nineties. Samuel Jackson did a good job playing Nick Fury so I wasn't too mad about it.

it was absolutely brilliant

They don't seem stable.

It was either the writers or directors who later said that Thanos had the technology to multiply the Pym particles allowing him to bring his whole army through to present day.

It definitely should've been shown in the movie, but for a movie already three hours long, I'm not surprised that this didn't make it in.

reply

I agree somewhat. I myself skipped the stuff after Thor chops Thanos' head off and then skipped to when they all go back in time to get the stones. I don't mind dramas but it's not what I go to Superhero movies for.

I agree with the crying and sulking. They spent way too much time on it.

Here's my fix:
Let all the sad stuff be shown through Scott (serving as the audience) as he makes his way through the cemetery and to his older daughter.

As soon as Scott returns without aging, Tony is immediately drawn back to the Avengers and they do a somewhat longer sequence of him figuring out time travel at the facility with access to the quantum van.

Get rid of the Hawkeye Ronin scene.

Hawkeye gets a message from Natasha that they are working on time travel. Hawkeye is also immediately drawn back to the Avengers thinking it could bring his family back. (The Endgame intro with Hawkeye still works here).

And of course have the sequence where Ebony Maw has a huge array of Pym particles after working on it for months.

For the record, time travel doesn't break the universe. It merely follows the "many worlds interpretation" of quantum mechanics which is widely supported by physicists, though not all of them.

The post that never should'VE been made...

I think the story should have ended with Infinity War. A much cleaner end ready for the next phase.
Endgame just brought up too many questions and in my opinion time travel can sometimes be a bit of a cop-out.
