That's insane. He made those tweets a decade ago or more in some cases. He wasn't even working for Marvel then and has apologized for them. This is just a horrible decision.

I read them. I mean, the guy used to work for Troma. Anyone should know the sort of fucked up sense of humor he had from the get-go and besides that, he apologized before he even started working at Marvel. I see no reason to fire him.

How exactly did you read them, he deleted most except those that could be saved. His tweets from 2010 - 2011 were full of pedophilia, racism, sexism and blatant stupidity. Also there are links to convicted pedophiles.

Or his story of how he saw a monkey sexually assault and rape a human boy and how happy this made him.

Some examples:
“The best thing about being raped is when you’re done being raped and it’s like ‘whew this feels great, not being raped!"
“I’m doing a big Hollywood film adaptation of "The Giving Tree" with a happy ending – the tree grows back and gives the kid a blowjob.”

And there are worse. I cannot think of a more sickening output. But I take it you do not consider dozens of pedophilic and racist jokes to be reason enough to fire someone from a family-products company making children orientated movies, and endorse it?

I read all the ones you just described. First of all, just because someone has a dark sense of humor, it doesn't mean they endorse these actions. Secondly, those tweets were, at the latest, seven years ago. And third, he apologized for all of it before this shit happened and apologized again. I don't see the issue here. Also, while some of his jokes are about rape, I didn't notice any that were racist. I mean, I get that rape jokes are still offensive to a lot of people, it's dishonest to accuse him of racist jokes when there are no signs of it.

First of all, just because someone has a dark sense of humor, it doesn't mean they endorse these actions.

How about those tweets:

Life was so much better before social media. I wish it didn't exist. I don't use any of it, thankfully, and never have/never will but it is definitely toxic. It destroys entire lives, blacklists people before they're even proven to be guilty and brings out the meanest, nastiest side of humanity that I've ever witnessed.

So what? So what if Gunn said those things? Yeah, they're nasty but they were made over a decade ago and the man apologized back then and apologized now. Are some social media posts really enough to get you fired a decade later? That's beyond ridiculous.

From the way some people are making it sound, this was some sort of conservative "revenge" for what happened to Roseanne.

Social media has become so toxic that it's starting to affect the entertainment that I love and has gotten to the point where I'm considering not watching Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The toxicity is bleeding into the movie itself.

I hate social media. I've been saying this for a long time now but it feels that there was a...SHIFT of sorts and it started sometime around 2005 or 2006. That's when Political Correctness started getting out of control, when people online became extra nasty and when the world seemed to turn to shit. What happened around that time? Internet and camera on phones was becoming a popular and widespread thing. Couple that with social media and there you go.

Just look at that "airplane romance???" story from a month ago--it caused a woman's privacy to be invaded and people started harassing her and calling her.

I hate social media. If it was outlawed I don't think I would protest.

LOL! I know it was just a matter of time before someone involved with the MCU would eventually get involved in some kind of Hollywood social media scandal...beautiful just beautiful. Hopefully others who are involved with the MCU will be hit with more social media scandals and set backs or better yet the quality the MCU itself will begin to deteriorate as well.

Isn't that amazing? For all intents and purposes "Justice League" is a more culturally recognizable brand. I've seen it all my life in stores and merchandise and knew what it was about without ever having picked up a comic book my entire life. I never even HEARD of "The Avengers" before.

The name "Justice League" alone is worth $1 billion.

YET...somehow it not ONLY grossed far less than ALL of the MCU Avengers movies but it grossed less than most Phase 2/3 MCU movies and was THE lowest-grossing DCCU movie. The DCCU's answer to the MCU's Avengers and it was their LOWEST-grossing product.

Gotta love the irony--the fat-heads behind the DCCU thought they could quickly capture the same lightning in a bottle that Kevin Feige had by rushing as fast as they could to Justice League and then...Justice League (the one they were racing toward the entire time) ends up being their biggest failure.

Of course, those of us who were on IMDB tried warning the DCCU fanatics of this for two solid years and they just scoffed at us and stated: "BVS and Justice League will be a tidal wave that will wipe out the MCU, you Marveltards!"

Well, I guess that tidal wave backfired into their own franchise.

Actually that's not quite all I have to cling to....while Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is losing its director Aquaman director James Wan has been given complete creative control over Aquaman, so WB won't be interfering and Wan will be able to do what ever he wants and he has a pretty good track record in directing, and a lot of people are pretty confident that Wan can pull it off.

And? It makes sense for WB to finally allow a director to have full control because they absolutely SUCK at developing an interconnected cinematic universe. It has been rumored for months that WB might be scaling back their cinematic universe plans and just focusing more on pod projects/standalone movies.

WB has made some great standalone films in the past and it is more to their speed. It is more to Marvel's speed to do the cinematic universe.

See, that's your problem (and why you're generally hated around here)--you have this sophomoric mindset regarding the MCU and DCCU and think of it as some sort of contest. See, this was WB's problem--trying to mimic and outclass the MCU rather than just doing their own thing. Now they may finally be doing their own thing and we'll see how it turns out.

Most of us "Marveltards" as you call us actually WANT to see a good film from WB/DC. To me, Shazam might just be it as I liked the trailer. Other "Marveltards" liked Wonder Woman and still give it credit to this day.

Grow up, GothamCat. You sound like a 13 year old seeking attention from the grownups table.
