Stormbreaker....Groot's wood arm strong enough?

Ok I know its a comic book movie....
In the MCU universe is there an explanation how a twiggy arm can support the awesome weight of Stormbreaker and hold up to multiple poundings?

In short can, Groot's wood hold up under heavy pounding? haha what is the comic book 'splanation of this please?

I'd guess that the magic in the forged weapon extends itself to whatever is used as the handle. Mjolnir looked to have a standard wooden handle and some leather straps, and pretty much any wood would snap when smacked around as Thor did Mjolnir unless some sort of spell was protecting the entire weapon.
