Is Chris Potter going to be in the series? I simply hate it when they tell one story, then move forward and go a different direction, especially after the same story line continued through several movies. Now they are doing a series and from what I can tell they are changing the story, if they pull this, I will likely not watch this series after the first episode. Granted the last two movies I was not able to watch due to the Hallmark channel not being apart of the service we had previously, however the Hallmark channel is apart of the package we have now, I'm hoping to catch up.
Don't see his name anywhere and they have James Denton as a single dad next door. So I am guessing he will end up being a love interest to her single mom set up . So disappointed , I loved the movies and don't think I want to watch a totally different storyline.
Point of Information: There have been 7 "The Good Witch..." movies. Cassandra and Jake were married in #3 "The Good Witch's Gift". Grace was a newborn in #5.
It would be a terrible decision to mess with a winning combination of cast members. IMHO Chris & Catherine are the center or 💖 of the series ... and that combo should not be messed with!

I agree. Bad hair on Bell and a bad plot is a double fail for me.
Dean: I am wearing sunglasses at night. You know who does that? No-talent douche bags! reply share
According to Catherine Bell, Chris won't be on the series because of his commitment to another show. I wonder how they will explain him not being around.
That is quite unfortunate! 😞. BUT, I am not convinced by that rather dismissive explanation. There have been several actors in the past that have been featured regulars in 2 series simultaneously.
I will watch the first episode BUT if it does not keep up the quality that we have come to expect (in the movies) OR don't offer a palatable excuse for Jake not being there .... I'm gone!
I was looking at the cast, Bailee Madison plays her daughter "Grace Russell." So I'm wondering if they are going to say "Jake Russell" died. I liked Chris Potter as the husband, but if he has other commitments/contracts, he has no choice but to turn down the series. 😩
I find it hard to believe that Chris Potter couldn't find time to film both Heartland and The Good Witch as he's not in all the Heartland episodes instead of ruining the story we've followed for years
If they couldn't get Chris back then they unfortunately should have recast Jake rather than kill him off
It reminds me of the Love Comes Softly movie series where I loved the Willie and Missie marriage, but, in between installments Willie. - the Sheriff. - was inexplicably killed off.
Hallmark has a tendency to kill off the husbands to progress a story (kind of like the way Disney kills off the mothers), for example, just look at the Love Comes Softly installments. So, I won't be surprised if Jake died, Brandon moved on w/ his wife, Laurie moved on as it's about 16 years later and single mom Cassie is raising her teenaged daughter alone. That is until the new love interest Dr. Sam Radford shows up with his own teenaged son.
There's a scene on Hallmark Channels website where Grace asks Cassie if she can see all sorts of things that are going to happen why couldn't she see what happened to her dad so it looks like they did kill him off. They should have just waited for the cast to be available and made another movie instead.
Wow. That is an incredible downer. The whole charm of the t.v. movies was how upbeat they were. Someone drastically miscalculated in this regard. There goes an re-watchability of the many movies. After all, who can watch a 'feel good movie' knowing that one of the main characters 'gets it in the end'.
Plus, if the show tanks, it possibly poisons the well for any further t.v. movies, unless they simply carry on as if the series never happened.
It reminds one slightly of the old series, 'Mrs. Columbo'. The original intent behind the series was that it was to follow the adventures of the ex-wife of the well known detective (Columbo).
Viewers wrote in such volumes expressing their displeasure at the idea of Columbo suddenly being divorced (regardless of the fact that the audience never got to see his wife), that the producers changed the premise of the series after the first season, shearing off the famous t.v. show connection, and retroactively making it so that she was just a random woman who had once been married to a random guy with the last name of Columbo, not the Columbo from that other show.
Initially in the series Mrs. Columbo, they were still married (I remember her having telephone conversations with her husband), and then the couple separated/divorced, which triggered the complaints.
I saw a short preview of the series and it appears that Jake has died. Cassie was talking to the grandfather about some type of memorial service to Jake saying that Jake didn't just belong to her but to Middleton. And that the town just wanted to show their love for him in all he had done as chief of police.
