Leigh Brackett is a far superior writer. Things were simpler and believable. Look what happens when things get really explainy - you have The Imperial March playing on TV's, offcers naming you "Solo" and hyper fuel.

shareAccording to George Lucas, Brackett's script was unusable and virtually none of it made it to the screen. But he was such a huge fan of her work that he couldn't bring himself to not giver her credit.
A tune very like the Imperial March (it isn't the Imperial March) being heard in Imperial propaganda had been in Star Wars Rebels four years ago.
